About me
Dr. Amit Dattani
DMD MBChB MFDS MRCS Pg.Dip.(Clin.Ed.)
Dr. Amit qualified as a dental surgeon in 2013 and completed a medical degree Birmingham in 2019 to complement his interest in face, neck and jaw surgery.
He carried out post-graduate training in multiple specialties including oral surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat surgery with experience in plastic surgery. Amit then took on higher surgical training in oral and maxillofacial surgery across hospitals in the West Midlands.
Amit has obtained further qualifications with the Royal College of Surgeons as a medical doctor and has published scientific articles in national and international journals. He is keen to teach his junior colleagues and had attained a diploma in clinical education.
He now takes on complex cases of oral surgery and dental implant placement and visits dental practices across the West Midlands.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are the most effective way to replace lost teeth. They involve placing a screw like structure into the bone which will then have a crown (cap) placed on the screw, looking just like your natural teeth.
They do not damage nearby teeth (like bridges) They do not have to be taken out. They are fixed like natural teeth. They will not fall out like dentures They look like your natural teeth! Dental implants are a permanent option for replacing missing teeth!
What does it involve?
An implant will usually require 4-5 appointments and can be placed immediately after a tooth extraction or can be completed over a 3-4 months of treatment.

Dr. Amit prefers to use Straumann dental implants. Straumann are the most established dental implants and have a proven success rate of 98%. Dr. Amit believes only the best system should be used in his patients.
Depending on how many teeth you are missing, this will all be discussed in your clinical assessment and treatment plan. You will require x-rays and a Cone Beam CT Scan (CBCT) which we will arrange.
Often if you are missing multiple teeth you can have many teeth placed on 2-4 dental implants.
This will depend on the amount of bone you have available to place a dental implant and how low your maxillary (top) sinus is. This will be discussed with you after the CT scan and x-rays.
It will all be done under local anaesthetic to make your mouth numb. You will not feel any pain during the procedure. It is expected to feel some discomfort after the procedure, same as a tooth extraction.
We will go through all options, your medical history and dental history to ensure you are suitable for dental implants to replace lost teeth prior to any treatment.
